The extracurricular event, titled “Mid-Autumn Festival with Books”, was organized by Pleiku Library in collaboration with Pham Hong Thai Secondary School.
During the program, students were introduced to Chú Tễu kể chuyện Tết Trung thu (Chú Tễu Tells Stories about the Mid-Autumn Festival), published by Kim Đồng Publishing House and collected and compiled by author Lê Phương Liên.
Through the book’s central character, Chú Tễu, students explored the origins and traditions of the Mid-Autumn Festival, including why the festival is celebrated, the stories of chị Hằng and chú Cuội, and the traditional star lantern parades of the past.
The students also joined a word challenge in which they arranged letters to form words associated with the festival. They watched a video introducing The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, read books of their choice and made library cards.
Traditional and intellectual games were also part of the program, including ô ăn quan, Chinese chess and chess, giving students an opportunity to combine learning with hands-on activities.
Pleiku Library said its extracurricular programs with primary and secondary schools are aimed at fostering students’ reading habits and skills while developing a broader reading culture.
The programs also seek to encourage students to participate in reading promotion activities and gain more direct, engaging experiences with books.
