The run, organized by the Ia Ly Commune People’s Committee in collaboration with the Gia Lai Marathon Club and Tam Nguyen Company, is part of activities responding to the 2026 National Tourism Year themed “Gia Lai - The Great Highlands embraces the blue sea”.

Scheduled to begin in the morning at the communal house (Nhà rông) in Kép 1 village, the event aims to combine sport with tourism while highlighting the distinctive cultural space of the Jrai ethnic community.

Organizers said runners can choose between two distances, 8 km and 21 km. The routes will pass several scenic and cultural landmarks in Ia Ly, including Ia Mmông Lake, Cong Chua Waterfall, the communal grave site in Kép 2 village linked to the Ia Mơ Nông Community Tourism Village, the communal house, and a Jrai cultural exhibition house.

Local authorities say the event is designed not only as a sporting activity for the running community but also as a platform to promote community-based tourism in Ia Ly, showcasing the natural beauty and cultural identity of Kép village to a wider audience.

The run also forms part of activities celebrating the upcoming election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term.

In addition, the event will raise funds for the commune’s social welfare program, aimed at supporting disadvantaged households in Ia Ly.
