The competition was held in Singapore from July 17 to 21 and drew more than 2,500 contestants from over 40 countries and territories.
Vũ Hoàng Nam, a student at Sao Viet Primary, Secondary and High School in Pleiku Ward, won a gold medal and the prestigious all-round runner-up trophy, recognizing exceptional performance across both the individual and team events.
The all-round runner-up title is among SIMOC's highest honors, awarded to contestants who demonstrate outstanding mathematical ability, collaboration and problem-solving skills through strong performances in the individual contest and both team competitions.
Nam was also one of six members of Vietnam's national team that competed in the Clash of Maths Titans event, where the team finished as runner-up.
Another Gia Lai representative, Nguyễn Tuấn Kim, a student at Asia Pacific International School - Gia Lai, received a bronze medal in the individual competition.
SIMOC, organized annually by the Singapore International Mathematical Olympiad Challenge (SIMCC), features three competition categories: the individual Maths Olympiad Contest and the team-based Maths Warriors and Maths Master Mind events.
Each team is intentionally composed of students from different countries, allowing the competition to assess not only mathematical ability but also participants' critical thinking, communication and teamwork skills in an international setting.
