Gia Lai launches 2026 summer youth volunteer campaign with focus on digital transformation and community support

The Provincial Youth Union, the Vietnam Youth Federation of Gia Lai Province and the Vietnam Student Association of Gia Lai on May 24 launched the 2026 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign in Quy Nhon Ward, in response to the Month of Action for Children and World Environment Day 2026.

The ceremony drew representatives from departments, agencies, political and social organizations, local authorities, partner enterprises, grassroots Youth Union branches, and affiliated organizations, along with 500 officials, union members, students, children, residents, and campaign participants.

Running from May through August, the campaign carries the theme: “Gia Lai Youth: Pioneering Innovation in Content and Methods; Leading Digital Transformation and Creativity for the Community.”

The campaign is aimed at grassroots communities, particularly disadvantaged, remote, and border areas, while promoting youth participation in digital transformation, environmental protection, child care, and local development initiatives.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Phạm Hồng Hiệp, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Gia Lai Province and Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, called on Youth Union, Youth Federation, and Young Pioneer organizations across the province to prioritize volunteer activities that meet local needs, especially in remote and ethnic minority communities.

He also urged stronger efforts in digital transformation, child care activities, environmental protection, and the development of new rural areas and civilized urban spaces.

“To ensure the 2026 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign achieves practical results, harnesses the pioneering spirit of youth, and brings positive value to the community, all levels of the Youth Union, Youth Federation, and Young Pioneer Organization across the province must closely follow the actual needs of each locality and unit to organize meaningful and effective volunteer activities,” Hiệp said.

“It is also essential to strengthen the application of information technology and digital transformation in communication, management, coordination, and implementation of volunteer activities,” he added.

At the event, the Provincial Youth Union established a 21-member Steering Committee for the campaign, headed by the Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union.

Seven volunteer youth teams were also formed to implement one program and five major campaigns, including “Exam Season Support,” “Green Summer,” “Red Flamboyant,” “Pink Vacation,” “Green March,” and “100 Days of Gia Lai Youth Leading Digital Transformation.”

Among them, the “100 Days of Gia Lai Youth Leading Digital Transformation” initiative was introduced as a new campaign unique to Gia Lai Province.

During the ceremony, the Provincial Youth Union, authorized by the Central Youth Union, awarded Certificates of Merit to four collectives and 10 individuals for outstanding achievements during Youth Month 2026.

Several social welfare initiatives were announced as part of the program.

TMN Trading – Construction Co., Ltd. pledged support for the construction of a “Red Scarf House” valued at VND 80 million (approximately USD 3,100) for Mai Nguyễn Anh Thùy, a student at Canh Thuận Primary School in Vân Canh commune.

CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company donated the “Lighting up the Homeland” project in Nhơn Châu commune, worth VND 120 million (approximately USD 4,700).

Sài Gòn Tâm Đức Dental Group provided 2,000 dental care cards valued at VND 4 billion (approximately USD 157,000) for union members and young people across the province.

EDUCA Education Joint Stock Company also offered a three-month online summer camp program worth VND 1 billion (approximately USD 39,000), covering English, STEAM, AI, and life skills education for children.

In response to the 2026 Month of Action for Children, the Provincial Youth Union and the Gia Lai Young Entrepreneurs Association presented 30 gifts to disadvantaged children in Quy Nhơn Ward. Each package was worth VND 500,000 (approximately USD 20), including VND 300,000 (approximately USD 12) in cash and additional gifts.

The organizations also distributed 100 gift packages to households affected by Storm No. 13 in Quy Nhơn Đông Ward. Each package was valued at VND 1.3 million (approximately USD 51), including VND 1 million (approximately USD 39) in cash and gifts.

Following the launch ceremony, participants carried out a series of activities including Green Sunday campaigns, Community Digital Technology Team initiatives, AI training sessions for students, environmental protection forums, the “Youth and Traffic Culture” festival, visits to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and the handover of youth-led community projects.

11 Key Targets of the 2026 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign:

1. 200,000 youth union members and young people participating in volunteer activities organized by the Youth Union and Youth Federation.

2. Planting 350,000 new trees.

3. Supporting the implementation and realization of 400 ideas and initiatives from youth union members and young people.

4. Supporting or guiding connections for at least VND 400 million in loans for young people to create jobs, start businesses, and develop the economy; striving for two youth startup projects to receive market access support.

5. Ensuring each border commune receives support to organize at least one social welfare volunteer program.

6. 100% of commune-level Youth Unions maintain the launch of “Community Digital Technology Teams” and “Digital Literacy Teams” to support digital capacity building for youth union members and local residents.

7. Providing career guidance and job counseling for at least 50,000 young people and introducing jobs for at least 3,000 youths.

8. Organizing 30,000 young people to participate in activities to improve foreign language skills and international integration.

9. Supporting 20,000 disadvantaged children.

10. 100% of university, college, high school, and continuing education center Youth Unions implement at least one community volunteer project.

11. Each commune or ward organizes or coordinates at least one cultural, artistic, or sports exchange activity for youth union members.
