The forum was held as part of an investment promotion program in Europe and was organized by the Embassy of Vietnam in Germany in cooperation with FPT Group and CMC Technology Group.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Nguyen Dac Thanh, scientists, experts, representatives of research institutes and universities, and members of the Vietnamese and German business communities also attended the event.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Nguyen Dac Thanh said Politburo Resolution 57 identifies science, technology, innovation and digital transformation as key drivers of rapid and sustainable development in the new era.
He said Vietnam is focusing on strengthening its legal framework, expanding digital infrastructure and developing a high-quality workforce, particularly in artificial intelligence, information technology, semiconductors and cybersecurity.
Held under the theme of investment cooperation opportunities in science and technology, bilateral innovation and AI trends in German industry, the forum brought together businesses from both countries to exchange technologies and explore specific cooperation projects.
Germany has strengths in research, engineering and industrial technology, while Vietnam offers a dynamic economy, a young workforce and a large market.
The forum identified potential areas for cooperation including industrial AI, smart manufacturing, data, cloud computing and emerging technologies.
Speaking at the event, Chairman Pham Anh Tuan said Vietnam is seeking not only to access advanced technologies but also to work with Germany on research, development, application and the creation of new technological value.
He said Vietnam is shifting from an economic model relying on cost and labor advantages toward one driven by productivity, technology, knowledge and innovation.
Against this backdrop, Vietnam-Germany cooperation should move from service provision toward joint development and from technology transfer toward co-creation of technology, Pham Anh Tuan said.
For Gia Lai, he highlighted potential cooperation with German companies and partners in digital infrastructure, data centers, research and development, software, artificial intelligence, smart agriculture, energy, logistics and human resource training.
The province aims to attract German businesses not only to bring technology to Gia Lai but also to invest, conduct research, train workers and develop products capable of competing in international markets.
Scientists, experts and representatives of research institutes, universities and Vietnamese-German businesses at the forum discussed cooperation opportunities and models in information technology.
The discussions covered high-quality IT outsourcing, software development, artificial intelligence, automotive technology, joint research and development, the establishment of technical centers in Vietnam, and data security solutions that comply with European standards.
Participants said Vietnam-Germany technology cooperation still has significant potential, particularly in the research, development and application of new technologies.
The forum is expected to provide a basis for Gia Lai to expand ties with German partners and pursue concrete cooperation programs in science, technology, innovation and the digital economy.
