On Sept. 16 local time, Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee Chairman Phạm Anh Tuấn held working sessions in Berlin with the German Agribusiness Alliance (GAA) and the German Association for Small and Medium-sized Businesses (BVMW).
The meetings were part of an investment promotion program in Europe aimed at presenting Gia Lai’s development potential and investment priorities and attracting projects in sectors where the province has strengths.
He outlined Gia Lai’s development space, covering more than 21,500 square kilometers and serving a population of more than 3.5 million people across the Central Highlands and coastal areas.
The province has 134 kilometers of coastline, more than 1 million hectares of agricultural land and nearly 700,000 hectares of forest, alongside seaports, airports, international border gates, economic zones and industrial parks.
These assets, he said, provide conditions for developing integrated production, processing, logistics and export chains. Key products including coffee, ocean tuna and other agricultural goods are also drawing interest from international markets.
Gia Lai is inviting German companies to conduct on-site surveys and explore investment opportunities, particularly in agriculture, deep processing, livestock and food processing. It is also seeking cooperation in technology transfer, machinery and equipment, as well as the application of science and technology.
Representatives of GAA and BVMW expressed strong interest in Gia Lai’s potential, particularly in agriculture and renewable energy. They also highlighted green development, efficient resource use and food safety as areas offering scope for greater cooperation.
The two German organizations said they plan to coordinate visits by German business delegations to Gia Lai in the near future, allowing companies to survey investment opportunities and connect with local enterprises.
Both sides agreed to strengthen information exchange, identify specific cooperation needs and gradually develop concrete projects.
Phạm said economic cooperation between Vietnam and Germany has a solid foundation, citing the presence and operations of many German companies in Vietnam.
He said opportunities were expanding, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises, amid Vietnam’s market of more than 100 million people and increasingly open policies.
Gia Lai has asked GAA and BVMW to introduce companies interested in investment and cooperation.
The province plans to exchange lists of business needs and coordinate through the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany to connect suitable companies and local partners.
Gia Lai is ready to receive German business delegations for on-site surveys, familiarize them with the local investment environment and work toward specific projects, Mr. Phạm Anh Tuấn said.
He added that upcoming preferential mechanisms and policies would create more favorable conditions for foreign enterprises to invest and develop in Vietnam.
Gia Lai expects to welcome a delegation of German small and medium-sized enterprises for surveys, with the aim of developing specific cooperation agreements and projects and strengthening economic ties between Vietnam and Germany.
