Gia Lai is stepping up efforts to attract foreign direct investment by improving infrastructure, streamlining administrative procedures and providing direct support to investors, while facilitating projects that have already received investment approval.

With development space, abundant raw materials and a strategic position linking the Central Highlands with the South Central Coast, the province is preparing conditions to attract foreign investors and expand investment opportunities.

Infrastructure development is a key part of the strategy. Major transport projects and facilities include Quy Nhon Port, Phu My Deep-water Port, Phu Cat Airport, Pleiku Airport and key national highways crossing the province.

Road links connecting economic zones, industrial parks (IPs), urban areas and tourist destinations with seaports, airports and railway stations are also being developed to facilitate trade and expand the province’s development space.

Industrial infrastructure has been invested in at the Nhon Hoi Economic Zone, Le Thanh International Border Gate Economic Zone and a number of key industrial parks, including Becamex VSIP Binh Dinh, Nhon Hoa, Nhon Hoi (Zone A), Binh Nghi, Phu Tai, Hoa Hoi, Tra Da and Nam Pleiku.

The province also has a workforce of about 3.54 million people, most of them of working age. Authorities are placing greater emphasis on training and improving labor quality to meet the requirements of major projects.

At the same time, Gia Lai is promoting investment in innovation centers, big data centers and the semiconductor industry as it seeks to keep pace with global trends.

Administrative reform is another focus, with the province aiming to build a professional, modern and development-oriented administration while providing practical support and incentives for businesses.

Foreign companies have already shown interest in the province. In 2025, Gia Lai attracted 16 FDI projects with total registered capital of more than VND 35,683 billion ($1.36 billion).

In the first eight months of 2026, the province attracted VND 4,074 billion ($155 million) in FDI from seven new projects.

Among the projects being promoted is the Renewable Energy Human Resources Training and Development Center in Phu My Dong Commune, with total investment of VND 2,300 billion ($87.5 million).

Franz Josef Claes, chairman of Germany’s GEO Group, said the province’s development potential, advantages and support were key factors in the group’s investment decision.

The project is scheduled to begin in October 2026 and become operational by the end of 2028. The center is expected to train high-quality human resources to international standards and serve as a research and development hub for advanced technologies.

To attract additional foreign investment, provincial leaders and infrastructure investors from industrial parks have visited developed economies including China, France, Germany and Portugal to promote the province and invite major corporations to conduct site surveys and register investment projects.

When investors express interest, provincial departments proactively provide information about the province’s potential and project-specific investment incentives.

Nguyễn Bay, director of the Investment Promotion Center under the Department of Finance, said officials provide detailed guidance when companies face difficulties preparing investment proposals or implementing projects.

“Whenever enterprises encounter difficulties in preparing investment proposals or face obstacles during project implementation, we provide detailed and dedicated guidance,” Bay said.

He said the approach helps businesses save time and travel costs while ensuring compliance with legal regulations.

When investors visit the province, the Investment Promotion and Support Team receives them, addresses their concerns and arranges site surveys to help them identify suitable locations.

Infrastructure investors in industrial parks also assist foreign companies with land, construction and environmental procedures.

At meetings with foreign investors, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Phạm Anh Tuấn said the province would continue facilitating licensed projects while mobilizing resources to complete technical infrastructure, expand development space and create new investment opportunities.

The province is also accelerating administrative reform to build an open investment environment and has pledged to continue supporting businesses as they invest and pursue sustainable development.
