Gia Lai aims to generate more than $17 billion in export turnover between 2026 and 2030, as the province seeks to help businesses and cooperatives expand internationally, strengthen brands and secure positions in global supply chains.

Under its Program for International Market Expansion, known as GoGlobal, the province is focusing on improving business capabilities, accelerating digital transformation, developing brands and opening new markets.

Nguyen Dinh Kha, deputy director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said the program is intended not only to raise export turnover but also to change how local businesses approach international markets.

For the 2026-2030 period, the province plans to train at least 1,000 enterprises, cooperatives and production and business establishments in international integration, import-export operations, e-commerce, cross-border digital trade and digital transformation.

The goal, Kha said, is to move businesses away from exporting only when opportunities emerge and toward proactively developing markets, brands and long-term positions.

Businesses are already translating those ambitions into large-scale investment plans.

Vinh Hiep targets $1.8 billion in exports

The company expects export turnover to reach $1.8 billion and plans to expand into 50 countries.

It is developing raw material areas, deep-processing facilities and logistics infrastructure across more than 24,000 hectares, with total investment of nearly VND18.8 trillion ($734 million).

The strategy is designed to move the company beyond raw-material exports by giving it greater control over the value chain, increasing added value and meeting international standards.

Hoang Anh Gia Lai plans major expansion

Hoang Anh Gia Lai Joint Stock Company in Pleiku Ward is targeting revenue of VND31.2 trillion ($1.22 billion) by 2030, up from VND7.44 trillion ($290 million) in 2025.

Its export turnover is projected to rise from $208 million to more than $1.1 billion, while the share of revenue from exports is expected to increase from 70% to 90%.

The company also plans to expand its markets from four to 30 countries.

It is implementing projects worth more than VND4.6 trillion ($180 million) in deep processing, organic fertilizers, logistics and raw material areas in Laos and Cambodia.

THACO AGRI seeks 20-country market

Truong Hai Agriculture Joint Stock Company, or THACO AGRI, based in Pleiku Ward, has set a revenue target of VND30 trillion ($1.17 billion) by 2028.

The company expects export turnover to reach $530 million, more than 12 times its current level, while increasing its market presence from two to 20 countries.

Tran Ba Duong, chairman of THACO AGRI, said businesses need to build closed value chains rather than operate independently if they want to improve competitiveness.

In Gia Lai, THACO AGRI is developing an agricultural ecosystem covering seed research, mechanization, raw material production, processing, logistics and distribution.

The company also aims to create opportunities for local businesses to participate in its supply chain.

Digital transformation seen as key to global expansion

As international markets impose increasingly stringent standards, the province says sustainable exports will require businesses to improve product quality, strengthen origin traceability, develop brands, adopt technology, optimize logistics and improve risk-management capabilities.

The GoGlobal program is designed to support businesses from customer acquisition through market development.

The Department of Industry and Trade will provide information on rules of origin, technical barriers, trade remedies, international standards, intellectual property, free trade agreement commitments and cross-border payments.

Trade promotion programs will also be organized by industry and tailored to individual markets.

Digital transformation and cross-border e-commerce are another focus. Businesses will receive support in developing digital brands and online stores, using digital data and artificial intelligence, improving traceability and managing supply chains.

Kha said the effectiveness of GoGlobal should ultimately be measured by the actual capabilities businesses develop.

The program, he said, should help companies not only find overseas markets but also build the capacity to retain them through stable production, consistent quality, traceability, brand protection, professional management and modern business practices.

Province seeks stronger support for export-led growth

The Department of Industry and Trade plans to advise the province on further administrative reforms, policies supporting innovation and digital transformation, and measures to improve business competitiveness.

The province has also proposed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade consider eight enterprises with annual revenue of at least VND2 trillion ($78 million) as a core force in the industrialization and modernization process.

The $17 billion-plus export target is therefore intended to represent more than a headline figure. It reflects the province's push to build businesses capable of controlling raw material areas, technology, processing, branding and overseas markets.

With the province moving toward an ecosystem-based approach and businesses taking a more proactive role in developing international markets, local products are expected to move beyond simply gaining a presence overseas and toward establishing a stronger foothold in global markets.
