Organized by the Rencontres du Vietnam Association and the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) in collaboration with the international organizing committee, the event coincides with the United Nations’ International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ), proclaimed on June 7, 2024.

The conference, held from October 6-9 in Quy Nhon City, brings together participants from 14 countries to discuss breakthroughs in quantum optics, quantum communication, computing, and interdisciplinary research across physics and chemistry.
More than 40 scientific presentations will explore emerging technologies and theoretical advances shaping the future of quantum mechanics.

In his remarks, Professor Trần Thanh Vân, President of the Rencontres du Vietnam Association and Director of ICISE, said the event celebrates “a brilliant century of quantum physics” and honors Professor Haroche’s pioneering contributions.
He emphasized that quantum technology could drive “the next scientific and technological revolution after artificial intelligence.”

Professor Haroche, who received the 2012 Nobel Prize in Physics, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to attend the conference at ICISE, describing it as “a place that connects scientists from around the world in a beautiful setting that blends nature and knowledge.”
He stressed that fundamental research, once driven purely by curiosity, has transformed the modern world through technologies such as transistors, lasers, GPS, and MRI.

The French laureate urged continued investment in basic science and praised Vietnam’s “intelligent and ambitious young generation,” saying the country could become “a bright spot in quantum technology” with strategic, long-term support from both government and private sectors.

Lâm Hải Giang, Vice Chairman of the Gia Lai provincial People’s Committee, reaffirmed local authorities’ commitment to supporting ICISE as a bridge between Vietnam and the international scientific community.
He highlighted science and education as the foundation for sustainable development, pledging to create favorable conditions for research, technology transfer, and human resource development in the province.

The conference also serves as a platform for doctoral students and young scientists to present their research and receive feedback from global experts.
Roundtable discussions aim to foster open academic exchange, encourage new ideas, and promote collaborative projects between Vietnamese and international laboratories.

Since its establishment in 2013, ICISE has hosted 19 Nobel laureates, reinforcing Vietnam’s growing role in global scientific dialogue.
