During a working session on November 1 with leaders of Quy Nhon’s wards and Nhon Chau Commune, Pham Anh Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee, emphasized the need to elevate the Quy Nhon tourism brand on the world tourism map.
Chairman Tuan praised the city’s socio-economic achievements over the first ten months of 2025, noting that Quy Nhon’s wards (Quy Nhon, Quy Nhon Nam, Quy Nhon Tay, Quy Nhon Bac, and Quy Nhon Dong) serve as key growth engines for the province.
He called on each locality to adopt a long-term vision aligned with Gia Lai Province’s broader development goals, particularly in urban development, commerce, services, and tourism.
According to reports, the administrative system under the two-tier local government model has operated effectively since its implementation four months ago. Public service centers have met residents’ and businesses’ needs, while major socio-economic indicators have shown encouraging results.
In Quy Nhon Ward, total product value grew by 8.25% in the third quarter of 2025, with the industry–construction sector up 8.5% and services surging 11.2%.
Quy Nhon Bac Ward reported growth of 8.46% in the first nine months of 2025, with budget revenue exceeding 61.3 billion VND (approximately USD 2.4 million), reaching 92.9% of its annual target.
Quy Nhon Nam Ward posted 6.69% growth over the same period, with revenue surpassing 156 billion VND (around USD 6.1 million), or 92.6% of its yearly estimate.
Despite these gains, localities continue to face challenges in infrastructure investment, leadership capacity, and administrative efficiency. Chairman Tuan identified these as “bottlenecks” that must be addressed swiftly.
Ward leaders proposed measures including the secondment of qualified personnel to address financial and planning issues, greater decentralization of authority, and investment in information technology infrastructure to streamline administrative procedures.
Chairman Tuan urged wards to review and restructure their administrative organizations to match staff capabilities, while improving professional training for civil servants.
He also called for the completion of local planning projects in alignment with provincial development plans, timely implementation of infrastructure projects, and enhanced efforts in urban beautification, environmental sanitation, and tourism service quality.
“The recognition by Lonely Planet presents both an honor and a challenge”, Tuan said. “Localities must seize this opportunity to promote Quy Nhon’s image worldwide.”
The province will continue to apply the principle of “localities decide - localities act -localities take responsibility”, encouraging initiative and accountability among local leaders.
