Gia Lai Province will hold a series of events on November 18 -19 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Plei Me Victory (November 19, 1965 - November 19, 2025), honoring one of the landmark military successes during the resistance war against the United States.

A scientific conference titled “60 Years of the Plei Me Victory” will take place on November 18 in Pleiku Ward, gathering researchers, historical witnesses, and armed forces representatives. Participants will review and discuss the significance of the victory and its impact in Vietnam’s fight for national liberation.

Commemorative activities will also feature visits to former battlefields, including the Plei Me Victory site in Ia Pia Commune and the Ia Drang Valley in Ia Púch Commune. Additional programs will showcase exhibitions of photographs, documents, and artifacts related to the campaign, alongside art performances, thematic talks, and cultural and sports activities across local communities.

The Plei Me Campaign, fought from October 19 to November 19, 1965, ended with decisive victories at Plei Me and Ia Drang Valley. The Plei Me Victory site, now located in Tan Thuy Hamlet, Ia Pia Commune, was recognized as a National Historical Site in 2009, while the Ia Drang Valley Victory site received provincial-level historical status in 2024.

According to the Gia Lai provincial People’s Committee, the two-day commemoration aims to affirm the historical importance of the victory, celebrate the bravery and unity of the military and people, and highlight Gia Lai’s development over six decades of preserving its heroic legacy.

The event will also promote patriotism and revolutionary education among citizens, particularly younger generations, through interactive and cultural programs.
