From September 7 to October 6, Nhà Huyên store in Pleiku Ward has hosted a lantern-making workshop, charging 30,000 VND (about $1.20) per item.
Participants receive materials such as lantern frames, LED lights, beads, stuffed animals and glue guns to design unique creations.

The workshops have attracted steady attendance, with children, students and parents crafting side by side.
“Decorating my own lantern makes me very happy, and I want to join many more times,” said 12-year-old Bùi Nguyễn Thảo Vy, a student at Nguyễn Du Secondary School.
Her mother, Nguyễn Thị Thanh Mai, noted the activity helps children disconnect from phones, develop dexterity and learn the meaning of the festival.

Organiser Nguyễn Thị Rãnh, owner of Nhà Huyên, said the event aims to build connections through craftwork: “Lanterns and keychains may be small items, but by making them with your own hands, the Mid-Autumn Festival becomes much more meaningful.”
A second venue, Ngã Ba Đường coffee shop in Pleiku Ward, is running a star-shaped keychain workshop from September 20 to October 6, charging 35,000 VND (about $1.40) per item. Participants are given fabric, scissors, glue and beads to create handmade decorations.

The events have become popular among groups of friends and young professionals.
“Instead of going out for coffee, I choose craft activities. It saves money and creates more memories,” said 30-year-old Phan Thị Na. Others said the workshops provided a chance to reduce screen time, relax and reconnect with traditional values.

The lantern and keychain-making sessions not only offer creative entertainment but also revive fond memories of the full-moon season, while reinforcing the Mid-Autumn Festival’s spirit of togetherness for Gia Lai’s younger generation.
