Professor Haroche, 81, was welcomed at Phu Cat Airport by provincial leaders from the Departments of Foreign Affairs and Science and Technology. A leading expert in quantum mechanics, Haroche received the 2012 Nobel Prize in Physics for pioneering work in measuring and manipulating individual quantum systems. He currently serves as an Honorary Professor at the Collège de France and is a member of the French Academy of Sciences.

The “100 Years of Quantum Physics” conference aims to honor Professor Haroche’s scientific contributions and review a century of breakthroughs in quantum physics, which has laid the groundwork for the next technological revolution following artificial intelligence (AI).

The event gathers 80 scientists from 14 countries and 60 outstanding students specializing in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology from Gia Lai and Đắk Lắk provinces.

The conference budget is estimated at about 12 billion VND (approximately USD 470,000), reflecting Vietnam’s growing investment in global scientific collaboration.
