The nine students, all orphans currently being raised at Buu Chau Pagoda in Thong Nhat Ward, broke open their piggy banks on November 25 and handed over their savings to the Hoang Hoa Tham High School Youth Union.

The funds were then transferred to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thong Nhat Ward to assist families hit by widespread flood damage.

According to the school, the money came from Tet lucky envelopes and donations from benefactors during visits and gift-giving occasions. While modest in size, the contribution reflects the students’ strong sense of community and compassion despite their challenging circumstances.

School representatives said the gesture has inspired other young people to become more engaged in community service, as collective acts of support continue to play a crucial role in helping affected households recover and stabilize their lives.
