The initiative is organized by Quy Nhon College of Engineering and Technology in coordination with the Binh Dinh Refrigeration Association.
As floodwaters receded, the campus of the college on Hung Vuong Street quickly turned into a bustling repair station. Residents brought in damaged washing machines, electric fans, induction cookers, televisions, and other household items that had been submerged and short-circuited for days.
In several areas of Quy Nhon Bac and Quy Nhon Dong wards, water levels rose more than two meters, leaving most household appliances severely damaged and overwhelming local repair shops.
Technicians from refrigeration and electronics businesses volunteered to assist. They split into teams to receive, inspect, and restore items. Each appliance was cleaned, dried, had faulty components replaced, and was tested before being returned to its owners.
Lê Tấn Hòa, Deputy Secretary of the College’s Youth Union and Head of the Electronics Department, said many households already face major financial losses to their homes and property, making repair costs a heavy burden. He noted that the program not only eases expenses but also helps affected families regain stability more quickly.
Over the past two days, hundreds of household appliances from flood-hit residents have been successfully repaired. Local resident Lê Văn Trung from Area 5 in Quy Nhon Bac Ward said the initiative had helped him save a significant sum at a time of hardship.
The program runs from November 23 to 27. Student volunteer Lữ Đình Minh Quang expressed pride in contributing to efforts that help families overcome the aftermath of the floods and return to normalcy.
