The provincial Market Management Department on March 13 convened a conference attended by around 250 representatives from tourism, accommodation and food service businesses operating in the western part of the province.
Participants were briefed on regulations governing food safety, pricing and price listing, as well as broader rules related to commercial activities and consumer rights protection.
Officials outlined the responsibilities of organizations and individuals involved in the production, processing and trading of food, including requirements for food safety conditions, product labeling and traceability, and the proper use of ingredients in food production and supply.
The conference also highlighted measures to prevent counterfeit, substandard or untraceable food products from circulating in the market, particularly at restaurants and accommodation facilities serving tourists.
Authorities further explained administrative penalties in the fields of commerce, food safety and pricing, including sanctions for trading counterfeit goods, selling products of unclear origin, using untraceable ingredients in food processing, or violating price regulations.
Organizers said the initiative aims to raise legal compliance among businesses while strengthening oversight ahead of major tourism events planned for 2026.
This is the second awareness-raising conference held by the department to improve understanding among business owners and encourage proactive efforts to prevent the circulation of counterfeit or substandard food at tourist venues and festivals.
Officials say the effort is intended to help build a safe, transparent and professional tourism environment, enhancing Gia Lai’s image among domestic and international visitors.
At the event, representatives of participating businesses signed commitments pledging to comply with regulations on food safety and pricing, a step authorities described as essential in preparing the province to welcome an expected surge in tourists during National Tourism Year 2026.
