Founded a decade ago by Nguyễn Hải Hà, 35, from Hưng Bình Tân Hợp hamlet (Ia Hrung commune), the club now trains nearly 60 students at two locations in Ia Hrung and Ia Grai communes. Training sessions are held three times a week, with increased frequency during summer to enhance students’ strength and technique, particularly in sparring.
The club’s inclusive policy ensures access to karate for children aged 6 to 12, waiving training fees for those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Regular sessions emphasize physical fitness, discipline, and community spirit, values that have helped transform Hasuka into a powerhouse for local sports.
Since its founding, Hasuka Karate club has trained eight athletes for the Pleiku center for sports training and competition, including three members of the national youth Karate team and one member of the national Karate team.
Between 2018 and 2025, the club consistently ranked among Gia Lai’s top four karate teams, clinching first place overall at the provincial Karate championships in 2018 and 2019.
At the 2025 Gia Lai provincial Karate championships, Hasuka secured four gold, six silver, and three bronze medals, finishing third overall. The club also tied for third place in the 10 - 11 age group at the 2025 national Karate club championships in Đắk Lắk province, winning one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal.
Coach Hà, a former provincial athlete who began training in 2003, remains dedicated to advancing both his own and his students’ skills through continuous learning and referee work at provincial and national tournaments. “We aim to promote health, discipline, and a positive lifestyle among children while helping them avoid social vices,” he said.
One of the club’s rising stars, Lữ Thị Gia Hân, 11, began training in 2023 and has already claimed a gold medal at the 2025 provincial championship and a bronze medal at the national club tournament.
Coming from a near-poor family, Hân’s training fees have been waived. “At the club, I not only improve my health and skills but also learn discipline and respect. My dream is to represent my province and my country in karate,” she shared.
With its dedication to inclusion and excellence, Hasuka Karate club continues to strengthen the foundation for future champions, proving that talent and determination can thrive even in rural communities with limited resources.
