The annual ceremony is an occasion for villagers to express gratitude to nature and pray for abundant water, favourable weather, good harvests, good health and a peaceful, prosperous life.
Plei Gao C, in Gào commune, has 116 households, most of them Jrai. The water source tradition is closely tied to villagers’ daily lives and livelihoods.
Ritual master Rơ Mah Hyơt led the ceremony, conveying the community’s wishes to the deities for blessings and prosperity.
Villagers also reminded one another to protect water sources and maintain hygiene in daily life and food practices to safeguard the health of their families and the wider community.
The previous day, the village held a communal house worship ceremony, another ritual of cultural and spiritual significance to the Jrai people.
The continuation of the ceremonies helps preserve the community’s cultural identity and encourages younger generations to respect and carry forward their ancestors’ traditions.
