Vietnamese student wins gold at 2025 int’l drone and robot programming competition

Vũ Hoàng Nam, a seventh-grade student from Sao Viet Primary, Secondary and High School in Gia Lai province, won the gold medal in the individual drone programming category at the 2025 International Drone and Robot Programming Competition, held in Mongolia on October 18 and 19.

The annual competition, organized by the Korea Aeronautics Association, featured teams from four countries: Mongolia, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The event aims to encourage young talent in STEM education through challenges in drone and robotics programming.

The finals were divided into three levels: Primary, Lower Secondary, and Upper Secondary, with both individual and team contests. Nam, representing class 7A5, outperformed his international peers to secure the top individual prize.

Sao Viet School’s delegation included six students and one coach, competing across the Drone Programming and Robotics Programming categories. The school also earned an outstanding collective award in the team Robotics Programming event.

The International Drone and Robot Programming Competition continues to be a leading platform for young innovators in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, fostering collaboration and creativity across borders.
