The program, held on April 30 at Hồng Anh Swimming Pool, was organized by the Chư Sê Commune Youth Union in coordination with the “Inspiring Sports Running Fund” Club and the pool’s management. Around 50 children and youth union members participated in the training.
Participants received practical instruction on identifying hazardous water environments, recognizing real-life danger scenarios, performing water rescue techniques, and administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The sessions were designed to be highly visual and grounded in real-life situations, helping attendees better absorb and apply the knowledge.
As part of the initiative, organizers distributed 40 pairs of swimming goggles to support training and encourage safer participation in water activities.
Hồ Ngọc Sơn, a coach and head of the Running Sports Inspiration Fund Club, said his personal connection to the area motivated his involvement. Growing up in Chư Sê, he was familiar with the risks posed by local ponds, lakes, and rivers. Drawing on experience from international training programs, Sơn said he aims to help children recognize dangers and respond effectively.
Parents attending the program expressed reassurance at seeing their children receive structured safety training. Phan Thị Hạnh, a local resident, noted that swimming ability alone is not sufficient. She said the program helped children learn to stay calm, handle dangerous situations, and better protect themselves.
Students also responded positively to the hands-on approach. Trần Nhật Bảo Trân, a fourth-grade student, said direct observation and practice improved her confidence and ability to remember key techniques. Similarly, sixth-grade student Bùi Hữu Trường Sa highlighted the value of simulated scenarios in helping him understand how to identify risks and respond effectively.
Đỗ Lê Công Thành, Deputy Secretary of the Chư Sê Commune Youth Union, said the initiative is part of broader efforts to prevent accidents, injuries, and child drowning in the area. He emphasized that with many local water hazards, especially during summer, such programs play a critical role in raising awareness and equipping children with life-saving skills.
