Gia Lai province has approved the investment policy for a supermarket project in Phu Cat commune with an estimated cost of more than VND 66.6 billion (approximately US$2.54 million). An investor will be selected through a land use rights auction.

The proposed development will occupy a 5,089-square-metre site at the junction of 3 Thang 2 and 30 Thang 3 streets, according to the provincial People’s Committee’s decision.

The project aims to provide a modern retail facility serving residents, organisations and businesses, while supporting the province’s trade and service sectors.

The development must be implemented within 24 months of the issuance of its land use rights certificate and will have an operating term of 50 years.

Plans include a single-storey supermarket with a footprint of approximately 2,670 square metres, alongside ancillary structures and supporting infrastructure.

Internal roads, parking and green spaces will cover about 2,419 square metres. Building coverage will be around 52.5%, with a maximum height of 14 metres.

The site currently contains six buildings and plots managed by the Phu Cat Commune People’s Committee.

The provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment has been instructed to advise on land allocation and leasing, and coordinate the handling of assets on the site before the auction.

The Provincial Land Fund Development Center will work with relevant agencies to publish the auction plan and list of land plots, prepare proposals, complete procedures and organise the auction in accordance with the law.

The departments of Finance, Construction, Agriculture and Environment, and Industry and Trade, together with the commune authorities, will oversee implementation.

The selected investor must coordinate with the Provincial Military Command and military units stationed in the area to ensure the development does not interfere with defence operations.

The project must also meet environmental protection requirements, including wastewater and sludge treatment, and comply with supermarket planning and construction standards.
