Vietnam’s gold-medal run capped an impressive campaign in which the team dominated the group stage, defeating the Philippines 37–12, Thailand 30–23 and Singapore 29–20. In the semifinals, Vietnam again overpowered the Philippines with a 28–8 victory to advance to the final.
