Gia Lai, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology forge 5-year strategic partnership

The Gia Lai provincial People’s Committee and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) signed a five-year strategic cooperation agreement onTuesday to strengthen collaboration in human resource training, scientific research, technology transfer, innovation, and digital transformation.

The agreement was signed at the headquarters of the Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee by Vice Chairman Lâm Hải Giang and Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong, Rector of HCMUT.

Under the partnership, both sides will develop high-quality human resources through training, professional development, and postgraduate programs tailored to the province’s socio-economic needs.

In scientific research and technology transfer, HCMUT will host seminars, training courses, and technology application programs to foster innovation and support Gia Lai’s development goals.

The university will also assist Gia Lai in promoting innovative startups by offering consulting services, helping establish a startup center, and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Collaboration will extend to specialized training in information security and safety for civil servants and public employees.

Officials said the five-year agreement provides a framework for provincial departments, enterprises, and university units to build practical cooperation programs with measurable impact.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman Lâm Hải Giang said the partnership with one of Vietnam’s top universities “will create major opportunities for Gia Lai to cultivate high-quality human resources and boost science and technology applications in production and management.”

Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong affirmed that HCMUT would continue to accompany Gia Lai in training, research, digital transformation, and development of the digital economy and society, contributing to local innovation.

From 2019 to 2025, the two sides have already collaborated on multiple research and training initiatives, completing three major scientific and technological projects focused on artificial intelligence, planning databases, and the Bahnar ethnic language.

During this period, the university also supported Gia Lai with consultancy for the Science Space project, startup promotion, information security training, international cooperation, and human resource development.
