The People's Committee of Gia Lai province in central Vietnam has officially approved a master plan for development of the Bien Ho - Chu Dang Ya Tourist Area, a sprawling 6,300-ha project with a long-term vision extending to 2050.
The planned area, located in Bien Ho commune and Thong Nhat ward, is poised to become a cornerstone of the province's tourism development.
According to the directive, the area will be transformed into a national-level eco-tourism, cultural, and resort complex designed to compete with international destinations. Its key functional zones will include the Bien Ho Lake scenic area, the significant landscape around Chu Dang Ya volcano, tea hills, pine forests, new residential developments, and dedicated spaces for resort tourism.
A major highlight will be an area designated for the annual Wild Sunflower Festival, which is closely associated with the Chu Dang Ya volcano.
The total budget allocated for the planning phase of the project is over VND6.44 billion (nearly $245,000).
The Bien Ho - Chu Dang Ya project is part of a broader strategy to boost large-scale urban and tourism development in Gia Lai, which has been merged from the former provinces of Gia Lai and Binh Dinh since July 1, 2025.
The province also recently approved the investment policy for another significant project, the CK54 Urban Area. This development will span nearly 202 ha and has a total projected investment of over VND17.2 trillion (nearly $654 million).
