Schools across Gia Lai province are stepping up review sessions and academic support as ninth-grade students prepare for the upcoming Grade 10 entrance examination scheduled for June 27-28.

This year, 48 high schools across the province will organize entrance exams, while 78 others will admit students based on academic records. The examination will include three compulsory subjects: Mathematics, Literature and English.

Lower secondary schools have begun implementing structured review programs aimed at consolidating core curriculum knowledge and strengthening students’ exam skills. Teachers are focusing on key topics while increasing practice with different types of test questions to help students become familiar with the exam format.

At Phù Mỹ Secondary School in Phù Mỹ commune, 288 ninth-grade students are preparing for the exam. School principal Lê Văn Bích said the review plan was developed at the beginning of the second semester in line with guidance from the provincial Department of Education and Training.

“Teachers have reviewed the curriculum, reinforced key knowledge and increased practice with exam papers so that students become familiar with the exam structure,” Bích said.

During review sessions, teachers combine theory consolidation with test-taking practice. Many classes organize timed mock exams, after which teachers analyze results and provide detailed feedback to help students identify and correct mistakes.

Similar efforts are underway at Phước Hiệp Secondary School in Tuy Phước Bắc commune, where 212 ninth-grade students are preparing for the transition exam.

Principal Nguyễn Thị Mỹ Nhung said students continue to follow the regular curriculum while teachers integrate review content into lessons to reinforce essential knowledge from the program.

In the coming weeks, the school plans to intensify afternoon review classes and organize additional mock exams to help students become familiar with the exam format and the pressure of the testing environment. Teachers are also guiding students to review common question types to ensure thorough preparation.

Bùi Nguyễn Hoàng Yến, an English teacher at the school, said review lessons are closely aligned with the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program.

“Alongside reinforcing grammar and vocabulary, we intensify practice with question types such as reading comprehension, sentence transformation and dialogue completion”, Yến said. “This helps students improve their exam skills and apply knowledge effectively”.

Beyond academic preparation, schools are also providing counseling to help students select suitable high schools. Information sessions are being organized to explain admission regulations and school quotas to both students and parents.

Teachers say choosing schools that match students’ academic ability is essential. Registering for schools beyond a student’s capability can create unnecessary pressure and affect exam performance.

Yến added that teachers also encourage students to maintain a balanced mindset during the review period. Many ninth-grade students are working to manage their study time effectively as the exam approaches.

High schools have also begun preparing for the upcoming admission season. Schools are updating new regulations and developing plans to guide students and parents through the application process.

Trần Nam Hải, principal of An Nhơn No. 3 High School in An Nhơn Nam ward, said the entrance examination system helps ensure greater consistency in admissions across schools.

The school has updated all guidance documents issued by the Department of Education and Training and will soon announce its admission plan, exam schedule and related regulations to parents and students.

The school also plans to assist students and families in understanding admission quotas, selection criteria and how to select schools that match students’ academic ability.

With schools taking proactive steps, teachers providing close guidance and students committing to their studies, the review process is now in full swing across Gia Lai.

Educators say these preparations will help ninth-grade students enter the upcoming exam with confidence as they seek to secure places at high schools and continue their academic journey.
