A seminar in Gia Lai province on October 17 explored ways to use cinema, television, short videos and Vietnamese cuisine to attract visitors, promote cultural heritage and support sustainable tourism development.

The event, held at ANYA Hotel in Quy Nhon Nam Ward, was organised by the Vietnam Culinary Culture Association in coordination with the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee.

Titled "Cinema, Television, Short Videos and Cuisine in Promoting Tourism", the seminar featured two discussions examining how Vietnam's culinary heritage could be transformed into engaging media content and tourism experiences.

The first session, "Strategically Bringing Vietnamese Culture and Cuisine to the Screen and Attracting a Global Audience", focused on presenting Vietnamese food culture through films and digital platforms.

Speakers discussed the importance of compelling storytelling, adapting traditional culinary knowledge for visual media and improving the skills of filmmakers and food stylists.

They also called for more diverse content formats, multilingual adaptations and closer cooperation among culinary artisans, content producers and food and beverage businesses.

Such collaboration, they said, would help protect intellectual property rights while preserving the authenticity of traditional cuisine.

The second session, "Vietnamese Cuisine in the Content Era: From Local Stories to Tourism Appeal", examined how online engagement could be converted into actual tourist visits.

Participants discussed ways to connect digital storytelling with real-world travel experiences, including the development of culinary maps, Film & Food Tours and trips for content creators to areas known for producing local ingredients.

The proposals also emphasised preserving cultural identity and ensuring that local communities benefit from tourism development.

Among the initiatives discussed was a pilot programme called "Taste of Gia Lai", accompanied by a proposed set of indicators to assess its impact on tourism.

The two sessions highlighted opportunities to strengthen Vietnam's presence in international food and travel media while using culinary heritage to support sustainable tourism.

The seminar also sought practical recommendations from experts and content creators to encourage cooperation among artisans, businesses, media producers and tourism organisations.

Through these initiatives, organisers aim to strengthen Gia Lai's culinary tourism brand during the 2026 National Tourism Year and beyond, while promoting the province's distinctive food culture to domestic and international audiences.
