The opening ceremony is set for 8:10 p.m. at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square in Quy Nhon Ward and will be broadcast live on VTV1, Gia Lai Newspaper, and Gia Lai Radio and Television, alongside coverage by local broadcasters and digital platforms.
The event, themed “Gia Lai - Mountains embrace the sea,” will showcase a staged artistic programme divided into four chapters, tracing the cultural and historical connection between the Central Highlands and Vietnam’s coastal regions.
Combining theatre, music, dance and visual effects, the performance will highlight the region’s heritage, from the spiritual resonance of Central Highlands gong culture and the vitality of its forests to the heroic legacy of Tay Son. Symbolic imagery will depict the convergence of mountains and sea, portraying both natural beauty and aspirations for development.
The programme will also evoke the poetic legacy of the coastal region, associated with prominent poets such as Han Mac Tu, Che Lan Vien, Quach Tan and Yen Lan, while presenting oceanic imagery including coral, marine life and whales to create a vivid seaside atmosphere.
Organisers said the performance reflects not only a geographical link between highlands and coast but also a cultural and spiritual convergence, bridging tradition and modernity as Gia Lai positions itself for future growth.
Following the ceremony, audiences will attend a mega concert featuring a lineup of popular Vietnamese artists, including Isaac, HIEUTHUHAI, HURRYKNG, Anh Tu, Pham Anh Duy, Tez, Mason Nguyen, Son.K, Lamoon, Bui Truong Linh, CONGB and Juky San.
Several signature songs and collaborations from the “Say Hi” music collective will be performed in Quy Nhon for the first time, offering a fresh musical experience for attendees.
A fireworks display will conclude the opening night, marking the official start of the year-long tourism programme.
