The “Vietnam Smiles” photo contest, launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam National Union of Students from August 6 to 20, was open to high school students and university, academy, and college students nationwide. The contest attracted 5,142 entries, garnered over 87,000 votes, and reached more than 382,000 users.
The organizing board decided to award 13 outstanding works, including one first prize, one second prize, one third prize, and ten consolation prizes.

The photo “Cùng em đến trường” (“Going to school together”) by Tran Phuc Toan, a fourth-year student at the Faculty of Cinema and Television, Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema, was awarded a third prize. Toan captured the image during a charity trip to Hra No. 2 Primary School (Hra Commune, Gia Lai Province), depicting the innocent smiles and excitement of children receiving school supplies ahead of the new academic year.
The award-winning works will be exhibited at the Independence Festival - 80 Years of Vietnamese Pride, held at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square (Hanoi) from August 30 - September 2.
The event is co-organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam National Union of Students, the Hanoi People’s Committee and the Department of Culture and Sports of Hanoi.
