Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) earned a hard-fought 2–2 draw against defending champions Nam Dinh in an action-packed Round 9 clash of the 2025–2026 V.League at Pleiku Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

HAGL took an early lead through Minh Tam’s clinical finish in the 19th minute following a rapid counter-attack that sent the home fans into raptures. However, their advantage was short-lived as Nam Dinh striker Brenner equalized with a close-range header in the 32nd minute before converting a penalty three minutes later to give the visitors a 2–1 lead.

Refusing to back down, HAGL surged forward late in the first half. Their persistence paid off in stoppage time when Thanh Nhan capitalized on a rebound after Marciel’s shot was parried by goalkeeper Nguyen Manh, restoring parity at 2–2 before the break.

The second half saw HAGL retreat defensively, struggling to maintain their earlier momentum. Nam Dinh dominated possession and created several clear chances, particularly after introducing a towering 2.06-meter striker to bolster their attack. Yet, HAGL’s backline and goalkeeper Trung Kien produced a resilient defensive display to preserve the draw.

The result extends Nam Dinh’s winless streak to five matches, deepening concerns for coach Nguyen Trung Kien as the reigning champions’ form continues to dip. It also prolongs their 18-year wait for a victory at Pleiku Stadium.

For HAGL, the point—worth roughly 300 million VND (about US$12,000) in performance bonuses according to club estimates, marks a morale-boosting outcome against one of the league’s strongest sides.
