The appearance of the three whales follows several recent reports from residents and visitors who have observed whales surfacing in different coastal areas of Gia Lai province.
Đỗ Thanh Toàn, Director of Ocean Beach Trading and Tourism Co., Ltd., said it was the first time he had witnessed three whales appearing together in the waters off Vũng Bồi.
In recent days, videos and photographs showing whales surfacing repeatedly off the coast of East Hoài Nhơn ward have circulated widely on social media, drawing significant interest from local communities.
Speaking to reporters on the morning of August 6, Phan Văn Quang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of East Hoài Nhơn ward, confirmed that the videos circulating online accurately depicted whales appearing in local waters.
According to the provincial Fisheries Sub-Department, the repeated whale sightings are a positive indicator of healthy marine conditions, reflecting both abundant food resources and clean coastal waters.
The agency has advised fishing vessels, tourist boats and other marine traffic to keep a minimum distance of 100 metres from whales and avoid pursuing or approaching the animals.
Authorities also urged vessel operators to remain vigilant while navigating in areas where whales are present to prevent collisions, helping to protect the rare marine mammals while ensuring the safety of people and vessels.
