The province has made environmental protection a core requirement of its industrial strategy, viewing green development as an essential path for economic integration. Tra Da Industrial Park, located in Pleiku Ward, is undergoing major transformation to become an eco-industrial zone where production processes meet green and sustainable criteria.
Nguyen Nhu Trinh, Deputy Head of the Gia Lai Economic Zone Authority, said the province is guiding companies toward digital transformation and sustainable development. A task force led by the authority has been formed to research and advise on planning, new investment and supportive policies for eco-industrial development.
The task force also collaborates with relevant agencies to compile and update a database on resource efficiency and cleaner production, while submitting real-time information into provincial and national industrial park management systems.
The Economic Zone Authority is promoting a model where each enterprise becomes part of a broader green production ecosystem. Businesses and regulators work together to improve production practices according to the principle of “clean in every process, green in every aspect”.
A centralized wastewater treatment system, considered a “green shield” of Tra Da Industrial Park, treats more than 200 cubic meters of wastewater daily for nearly 50 companies. Using biochemical technology with multiple filtration stages, the system is monitored online and connected to the Department of Agriculture and Environment to ensure compliance with environmental indicators.
The Gia Lai Economic Zone Infrastructure Development Company continues upgrading the plant and guiding businesses to properly connect rainwater and wastewater systems. Director Tran Xuan Thang said the facility operates around the clock and will be renovated in 2026–2027 to meet higher technical standards.
Nearly 60 companies are now operating in Tra Da Industrial Park, where environmental investment is considered a mandatory business requirement.
Firms are shifting to clean fuels, enhancing air and wastewater treatment systems and expanding green spaces around their facilities. Environmental protection has increasingly become part of corporate culture, with some enterprises adopting modern technology for low-carbon production.
NutiFood Cao Nguyen Factory Director Ho Sy Sau said the company prioritizes environmental protection and ensures treated wastewater meets Class A standards. The factory is preparing a greenhouse-gas control program to maintain a green and safe working environment.
Quicornac Co., Ltd. General Director Luu Quoc Thanh said wastewater is treated to below 50 PPM, far lower than the maximum allowable limit of 400 PPM, which strengthens business credibility and influences customer decisions.
Voluntary environmental efforts are helping businesses cut costs, save energy and improve competitiveness in global supply chains.
With cooperation among authorities, infrastructure developers and companies, Tra Da Industrial Park is making progress toward becoming a model “green industrial park” where development is measured by environmental quality, community well-being and harmony between people and nature.
