Gia Lai approves 2021-2030 master plan adjustments, expanding energy and infrastructure projects

The People's Committee of Gia Lai Province has approved revisions to its 2021-2030 master plan, with a vision extending to 2050, aiming to accelerate energy, transport, and construction development.

Key updates include new and expanded energy projects aligned with the national Eighth Power Development Plan (PDP VIII), totaling 4,990 MW.

Additions include: Vĩnh Thạnh Pumped Storage Hydropower Plant (600 MW), Nhơn Hội Wind Power Plant Expansion (40 MW), Hoài Đức Solar Power Plant (50 MW), Hoài Thanh Solar Power Plant (60 MW), Núi Một Lake Solar Power Plant (100 MW), Phù Mỹ 1 and 2 Industrial Park Solar Power Plants (100 MW each), and Bình An 1 Solar Power Plant (90 MW).

Adjustments also cover 34 hydropower plants (457 MW), 43 wind projects (3,296 MW), 18 centralized solar plants (1,030 MW), 3 biomass plants (102 MW), Hội Vân Geothermal Project (15 MW), 4 waste-to-energy plants (75 MW), and two 7 MW battery energy storage systems at Krông Pa.

In transportation, the Quy Nhơn-Pleiku expressway route will be shifted north by 1.5–3.5 km in mountainous areas, incorporating a tunnel through Đá Khuyết Mountain at Km 42+860 to optimize elevation and slope.

The province has also added nine construction material mines—including Tây Suối Yến, Bình Nghi, Hòn Quýt, Long Mỹ, Phú Long, Tây Xuân, Phước Mỹ, Vĩnh Sơn, and Tây Sơn mines, to support the expressway and other major projects. Two titanium ore areas, Nam Đề Gi (150 ha) and Mỹ An 5, have been removed from the provincial mineral plan.

The Gia Lai People’s Committee confirmed that the adjustments provide a legal framework for implementing sectoral technical plans and facilitating investment procedures across energy, transport, and mining projects.
