The meeting took place as part of a field visit by Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee Chairman Pham Anh Tuan.
Lieutenant Governor of Idaho Scott Bedke led the U.S. delegation, which included Benjamin Henderson, Agricultural Affairs Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam, and representatives from Idaho-based agricultural enterprises.
Speaking at the session, Chairman Pham Anh Tuan highlighted Gia Lai’s vast natural area, abundant resources and favorable climate, saying the province aims to develop high-tech agriculture as a key economic pillar.
He said Gia Lai is focusing on large-scale livestock farming, crop cultivation, sustainable forestry and the formation of agricultural-industrial hubs and concentrated raw-material zones. The province is also investing in infrastructure to attract businesses.
Bedke noted Idaho’s strengths in beef and dairy cattle, food processing, agricultural nutrition and agricultural supplies, adding that the state’s natural landscapes and water resources position it as a major U.S. agricultural center. He said the shared strengths of Idaho and Gia Lai create “significant opportunities for deep, effective and sustainable cooperation.”
The lieutenant governor said he was impressed by the scale and professionalism of THACO AGRI’s beef cattle farm, expressing hope for future collaboration with Gia Lai enterprises in livestock technology, breeding and distribution.
During the meeting, U.S. delegates received briefings on Gia Lai and THACO, laying the groundwork for potential cooperation between the two localities and broader business communities in Vietnam and the United States.
