The WeChoice Awards 2025 on Monday announced 21 nominees for its inspirational figure category, spotlighting individuals whose stories capture resilience, compassion and cultural pride under the theme “Continuing the story of Vietnam”.

Organised annually by VCCorp since 2014, the awards honour people and projects with significant positive impact on the community. Public voting is open at wechoice.vn until 12:00 p.m. on 6 February 2026, with winners to be revealed at the gala on 7 February.

This year’s nominees reflect Vietnam’s response to natural disasters, community hardship and cultural revival. Their stories span frontline rescue missions, scientific breakthroughs, artistic achievements and extraordinary acts of solidarity.

Stories of courage and compassion

In a year marked by severe natural disasters, nominees include farmers, rescue teams and scientists who embodied Vietnam’s instinct to “seek and hold onto one another.” Examples range from a drone pilot who risked his life during a flood rescue to volunteer teams livestreaming recovery efforts on treacherous waters.

Medical excellence is represented by the joint fetal cardiac intervention team from Từ Dũ Hospital and Children’s Hospital 1, which completed 13 high-risk transuterine procedures, an achievement built on 16 years of preparation and the trust of expectant mothers.

Cultural and creative breakthroughs

Several artists earned nominations for elevating Vietnamese culture globally. They include singers who reinterpreted folk identity for modern audiences, filmmakers turning wartime history into contemporary cultural phenomena, and circus performers revitalising a long-silent stage with daring choreography.

Content creators, composers and social media storytellers are also recognised for reshaping public imagination, from rural cinematic projects to children’s music catalogues and online characters grounded in Vietnamese humour and warmth.

Sports figures and national pride

Nominees from the sports sector include the national women’s Arena of Valor e-sports team, celebrated for its SEA Games gold medal, and veteran coach Mai Đức Chung, honoured for nearly three decades leading women’s football to the World Cup stage. Rising footballer Nguyễn Đình Bắc is featured for his ascent from a rejected youth player to a continental standout.
