At a December 2 media event in Bangkok, officials showcased competition sites and encouraged public participation in SEA Games 33 and the 13th ASEAN Para Games.
The promotional program, held at SiamScape, featured athletes such as artistic gymnast Piyada Peeramathukorn, kickboxer Chainarong Yawanopas, shooter Naphis Tortangpanich, and para table tennis player Rungroj Thainiyom.
Gongsak Yodmani, head of the Sports Authority of Thailand, said flooding in Songkhla forced several venue relocations but emphasized that organizers made timely adjustments. He noted that most sports now have confirmed sites, with updated information available online alongside free ticket registration.
According to Gongsak, organizational work is “100% ready” following venue inspections and consultations with sports federations. Accommodation for participating delegations has been arranged to “the highest standards,” he added.
The next phase will prioritize communications to ensure spectators are fully informed about schedules and locations. Bangkok and Chonburi continue coordinating hosting responsibilities.
SEA Games 33 will run from December 9 to 20, 2025, with team sports beginning December 3. Men's football will open the competition, featuring U22 Vietnam vs. U22 Laos at 16:00 on December 3 at Bangkok’s Rajamangala Stadium.
A high volume of medal events is expected immediately after the December 9 opening ceremony. Organizers plan to award 32 medal sets on December 10, followed by 42, 53, 49, 41, 46, 33, 39, 28 and 84 sets on subsequent days. Only two sepak takraw medal sets will be awarded on the final day, December 20.
Following venue adjustments, Bangkok will host 48 sports and disciplines, becoming the core of SEA Games 33. Delegations reportedly remain unaffected by the changes, as most teams are required to arrive two days before competition unless additional time is needed to acclimate.
