Authorities in Gia Lai province have finalized extensive preparations for the opening ceremony of National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026, scheduled for March 28, as the locality gears up for a major influx of visitors.

At Nguyen Tat Thanh Square in Quy Nhon Ward, the main venue for the event, final installations of stage, lighting and sound systems are underway.

The open-stage concept combines modern performance technology with local cultural elements, aiming to showcase Gia Lai as a destination that is both pristine and increasingly integrated into the broader tourism landscape.

Authorities have implemented comprehensive plans covering security, healthcare, transportation and tourism services to ensure the smooth running of the event and enhance the province’s long-term tourism profile.

Police forces have deployed detailed security strategies across all venues and activities, assigning clear responsibilities to each unit. All personnel have been mobilized to ensure safety throughout the ceremony.

Fire prevention units have also conducted inspections at accommodation facilities, requiring immediate correction of any safety risks, while maintaining round-the-clock emergency readiness.

Traffic police have introduced coordinated traffic management plans for the city center and surrounding routes to minimize congestion and maintain steady movement during peak periods.

The health sector is operating on a 24/7 basis under strict protocols, ensuring sufficient staffing, equipment and emergency vehicles. Medical teams have been deployed on-site at the main venue, with contingency plans, including an external emergency response system, ready to be activated if needed. Food safety measures have also been strengthened across hotels, restaurants and service providers to prevent potential health incidents.

Transport infrastructure at bus stations, airports and parking areas has been upgraded to accommodate visitors. Around 620 parking spaces have been arranged, while public and private transport services, including taxis and ride-hailing, have been mobilized to meet demand.

Tourist activity in Gia Lai has intensified in recent days, with rising visitor numbers across major roads, hotels and attractions. Accommodation facilities, including hotels and homestays, are nearing full capacity as both domestic and international tourists arrive for the event.

On March 27, the international cruise ship Noble Caledonia - Island Sky docked at Quy Nhon Port, bringing mainly British and Irish tourists. During their stay, visitors are scheduled to attend the opening ceremony and explore local attractions, including Ong Nui Pagoda and the Twin Towers, alongside cultural experiences such as traditional martial arts performances.

Hospitality providers have upgraded facilities and improved service standards in response to increased demand. At Saigon - Quy Nhon Hotel, occupancy has reached full capacity, with management focusing on staff training, service quality and safety measures.

Meanwhile, the Gia Lai Provincial Youth Union has launched coordinated communication campaigns to promote the event through digital platforms. Volunteer teams have been deployed at tourist sites to assist visitors and provide information, contributing to a welcoming and professional image for the province.
