A student from Vietnam’s Central Highlands province of Gia Lai has graduated with highest honours from Foreign Trade University, completing her degree ahead of schedule with a near-perfect academic record and multiple research accolades.

Vũ Lương Ngọc Anh, 22, earned a GPA of 3.99 out of 4.0 in the High-Quality Program in International Economics at the university’s Institute of Economics and International Business. She completed the four-year programme in just three and a half years, graduating in early April 2026.

Ngọc Anh also recorded the highest score among students who graduated six months early from the programme.

Originally from Gia Lai, she had moved more than 1,100 kilometres to Hanoi to pursue her studies. A former student of the English-specialised class at Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted, she credited her language skills and competitive academic environment for shaping her approach to learning.

Her study methods focused on active engagement, including structured note-taking, direct discussions with lecturers and linking knowledge across subjects. Over her university career, she received only one B grade, with all other subjects graded A.

Ngọc Anh began participating in scientific research in her second year. Her project on factors influencing electric vehicle adoption won the Outstanding Paper Award at the National Scientific Conference on Logistics in Hai Phong in 2025.

Later that year, she co-developed a research project combining game theory and machine learning, which was selected for presentation at an international conference of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) in Singapore.

During her studies, she received several distinctions, including Outstanding Student of Foreign Trade University for the 2024–2025 academic year and Hanoi’s “Five-Good Student” title for two consecutive years.

She also secured third prize in the national finals of the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship (MOSWC) in 2023.

Ngọc Anh said graduating with distinction marked an important milestone but viewed it as a starting point for her career. “What matters is applying knowledge, learning quickly and creating value”, she said.

In October 2025, while still in her final year, she was recruited as a full-time employee at a bank, where she develops programming-based models to assess customer risk.

Looking ahead, Ngọc Anh plans to pursue data-driven business roles while exploring opportunities for postgraduate study.
