Speaking at a midday working session held at Cat Khanh Border Guard Station with provincial leaders, PM Chinh lauded the effective evacuation of residents and the strong engagement of local authorities in disaster relief efforts.
According to Pham Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Gia Lai People’s Committee, the storm inflicted severe damage on housing, infrastructure, transportation, telecommunications, power grids, healthcare, and education facilities. The province’s total losses are estimated at about VND 5,900 billion (approximately USD 232 million).
Gia Lai is mobilizing all available resources for recovery and has requested additional assistance from the central government. The Prime Minister instructed the province to conduct a comprehensive damage assessment to determine appropriate central support measures. He directed officials to prioritize rebuilding homes for displaced families, repairing damaged houses, and stabilizing livelihoods.
PM Chinh also urged the province to plan new resettlement areas, clear coastal zones for service and business activities, and accelerate restoration of essential infrastructure such as roads, hospitals, and schools.
The Prime Minister called for coordinated efforts to support local businesses and residents through job creation, production recovery, and livestock farming. He recommended mobilizing armed forces and youth to assist in debris clearance and factory reconstruction, while banks and financial agencies were encouraged to provide preferential loans, debt relief, and tax reductions.
He tasked the Ministry of Finance with proposing immediate financial aid for Gia Lai and advised the province to use contingency funds to assist affected citizens.
PM Chinh emphasized that the provincial political system must act decisively to achieve its 2025 socio-economic targets, contributing to national progress ahead of the 14th National Party Congress in early 2026.
