Beaches, highlands and orchards draw tourists across Vietnam during National Day holiday

Vietnam’s major destinations, from coastal Da Nang to the central highlands of Gia Lai and the riverine orchards of Vinh Long, drew hundreds of thousands of visitors during the National Day holiday, boosting tourism revenue and hotel occupancy nationwide.

According to Da Nang’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the city welcomed more than 620,000 visitors between August 30 and September 2, up 24% from the same period last year.

International arrivals surged 49% to 168,000, while domestic tourists increased 17% to 452,000. Tourism revenue exceeded VND 2.2 trillion ($86 million), a 28% year-on-year rise.

Hotel occupancy in Da Nang averaged 55–60%, with 4- and 5-star properties reporting rates of 65–70%, and some areas surpassing 80%.

Attractions such as Sun World Ba Na Hills, Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park, VinWonders Nam Hoi An and Hoi An Ancient Town reported heavy crowds. The city also staged nightly fire-and-water shows at Dragon Bridge and cultural performances across tourist sites.

Gia Lai province received nearly 294,000 visitors, including 110,000 overnight guests, generating VND 623 billion in revenue, up around 10% from last year, said Nguyen Thi Kim Chung, deputy director of the provincial tourism department.

Key destinations including Bien Ho Lake, Dai Doan Ket Square and Ia Ly Hydropower Plant drew strong numbers, while large-scale cultural events such as the “Essence of the great forest” festival and fireworks in Quy Nhon and Pleiku added to the holiday atmosphere.

In the Mekong Delta, Vinh Long welcomed more than 176,000 visitors, a 16.5% increase year-on-year, including nearly 12,000 international tourists, up 38%.

Tourism revenue topped VND 173 billion, a 20% rise. Average hotel occupancy stood between 70% and 75%.

Local authorities organized folk music, cai luong opera, cultural exhibitions, orchard experiences and river tours to highlight regional identity.

The province also promoted its tourism digitally via Facebook, TikTok and YouTube, while offering visitors activities such as fruit picking, traditional cooking and don ca tai tu performances.

Tourism officials across the three provinces said the strong turnout reflected growing domestic and international demand, and pledged further investment in cultural events, service quality and digital transformation to sustain momentum.
