The visit formed part of activities marking the opening week of National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026, offering diplomats a direct experience of one of the region’s most significant Cham architectural complexes.

Banh It Tower, located in Tuy Phuoc Bac commune, is among the remaining Cham tower clusters in the province, comprising four structures: the Gate Tower, Stele Tower, Fire Tower and Main Tower. The complex reflects a transition in architectural style from Mỹ Sơn A1 to Bình Định, dating from the late 11th to early 12th century.

Set atop a gentle hill and surrounded by rural landscapes, the site impressed visitors with its preserved ancient character and harmonious integration with nature. A winding, tree-lined path leading to the towers further enhanced the tranquil atmosphere, allowing guests to appreciate both historical and scenic values.

Suren Baghdasaryan, Ambassador of Armenia to Vietnam, described the site as a powerful symbol of enduring architecture and cultural connection. He said he would recommend the destination to Armenian tourists visiting Vietnam.

Beyond sightseeing, the delegation attended cultural performances held within the heritage space. Artists from the Đào Tấn Tuồng Troupe presented Cham dances featuring traditional music, costumes and expressive movements. Martial artists from the Bình Định Traditional Martial Arts Center also staged demonstrations of signature techniques and weapon forms, showcasing the region’s martial heritage.

Kohdayar Marri, Ambassador of Pakistan to Vietnam, said the landscape and cultural setting left a strong impression. On his first visit to Banh It Tower, he highlighted the combination of ancient architecture, peaceful countryside and urban views, noting he planned to promote the destination and return in the future.

The visit was part of the “Spring Friendship Tour,” an initiative designed to introduce Gia Lai and Vietnam more broadly to international partners through direct engagement.

Hanna Pors, Deputy Consul General of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City, said the trip offered insight into a locality balancing economic development with cultural preservation. She also highlighted the hospitality of local residents and expressed intentions to share Gia Lai’s story in future exchanges.

Provincial authorities said the presence of diplomatic representatives at the heritage site helps strengthen cultural connections and expand opportunities for tourism cooperation. The initiative reflects Gia Lai’s broader strategy to promote its identity internationally and attract visitors as part of its sustainable tourism development goals.
