A local content creator is reshaping how audiences experience Vietnam’s Central Highlands, using visual storytelling to promote the culture and landscapes of Gia Lai Province.

Vòng Thị Huyền, a Pleiku-born social media influencer known as “Huyền Tỷ,” has built a strong following through her TikTok channel “Huyền tỷ Review” and Facebook fanpage “Gia Lai ơi,” which together attract more than 160,000 followers. Her work focuses on presenting the region through images and personal narratives rather than traditional guidebooks.

In 2026, Huyền was named one of three tourism ambassadors for Gia Lai during the National Tourism Year, themed “Gia Lai – The Great Highlands Touch the Blue Sea.” The year-long program is expected to feature 244 cultural, sports and tourism events.

“Being recognized is a great joy, but it also comes with responsibility,” Huyền said, noting her growing role in promoting the province’s image.

Huyền began her journey six years ago, initially sharing photos and short videos as personal keepsakes. As her content gained traction, she shifted toward more deliberate storytelling, focusing on authentic travel experiences and local culture.

Her breakthrough came with a video documenting the Pơ Thi ceremony of the Jrai people in Kép Village, a significant spiritual ritual also known as the “grave-leaving ceremony.” The content resonated widely, reflecting a growing audience interest in cultural tourism beyond scenic destinations.

Building on that momentum, Huyền produced a series on the Kon Sơ Lăl communal house, the largest in the Central Highlands. The structure, measuring approximately 23 meters in length and 20 meters in height, became a focal point for her storytelling. All six videos in the series generated high engagement.

She has since developed a broader content ecosystem on Gia Lai’s tourism and cultural identity. To date, 12 of her videos have each surpassed one million interactions, drawing viewers seeking both information and emotional connection.

Huyền emphasizes accuracy and responsibility in her work, rejecting the practice of embellishing content for attention. “One should not misrepresent or compromise safety just for a beautiful photo,” she said, adding that each trip is carefully planned with attention to timing, routes and cultural sensitivity.

She also warned of the risks posed by misleading social media content, which can distort real-life experiences and erode audience trust over time.

Supporting her work is her husband, photographer Phạm Công Quý, who contributes to the visual production of her videos. He said maintaining authenticity is critical in an era where images can be easily manipulated.

For Huyền, the impact of her work goes beyond metrics. Audience feedback, including stories of meaningful trips or emotional connections to their hometown, remains her greatest motivation.

Through her lens, Gia Lai is presented not only as a destination, but as a lasting memory shaped by culture, community and lived experience.
