The journey begins from the mist-covered town center, winding more than 17 kilometers toward a lesser-known destination. A narrow asphalt road leads into the village, where neatly arranged stilt houses signal a transition from urban bustle to rural calm.
Visitors are greeted by crisp air and open skies. Along the roadside, reeds sway and wildflowers bloom, while hillsides stretch into the distance. The landscape is defined by the soft purple hues of melastoma flowers, creating a rustic charm that encourages travelers to slow down and take in the surroundings.
As the road climbs deeper into the village, the terrain steepens but the atmosphere remains refreshing. Rolling hills, dense greenery, and filtered sunlight form a tranquil countryside scene closely tied to the rhythms of local life.
Agriculture shapes both the landscape and livelihoods. Coffee trees line the slopes in orderly rows, while rice fields unfold in the distance, dotted with farmers at work. The cultivation of medicinal plants such as sâm dây, đương quy, and sâm đất adds further economic value to the community.
Towering pine forests dominate the environment, their canopy providing shade and a constant soundtrack of wind and birdsong. The natural setting enhances Kon Tu Ma’s growing appeal as an eco-tourism destination.
In recent years, local residents have begun developing tourism in a structured way. Homestays nestled beside pine forests offer visitors a chance to experience village life in a simple, intimate setting. Activities now include trekking through forests, visiting terraced fields and granaries, crossing suspension bridges, fishing in streams, exploring waterfalls, and camping under open skies.
Beyond its landscapes, Kon Tu Ma is defined by its cultural richness. The village is home to 52 households, primarily from the Mơ Nâm ethnic group, who have preserved traditional customs, festivals, and crafts such as weaving and brewing rượu ghè. These practices provide visitors with a deeper cultural experience beyond sightseeing.
One of the village’s distinctive features is its cluster of wooden granaries perched along hillsides. Resembling miniature stilt houses, they serve not only as storage spaces but also as symbols of prosperity and respect for the harvest.
The community maintains a close relationship with nature, reflected in rituals such as the annual new rice ceremony held in July. This event honors both the harvest and the spiritual connection between people and the land.
