Vietnam’s Party leaders pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh ahead of 14th National Congress

Senior leaders of Vietnam’s Communist Party and State on Sunday paid tribute to late President Ho Chi Minh and the nation’s fallen heroes, as the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) opened in Hanoi.

Led by Party General Secretary Tô Lâm, the delegation laid wreaths and observed a moment of remembrance at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum before offering incense at the Monument to the Heroes and Martyrs on Bắc Sơn Street.

The delegation included Politburo members President Lương Cường, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, National Assembly Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn, and Standing Member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat Trần Cẩm Tú, alongside other Politburo members, Secretariat members, Central Committee members and Congress delegates.

In a solemn ceremony at the mausoleum, the delegation laid a wreath bearing the words “Eternal gratitude to the great President Hồ Chí Minh,” honouring the founder and mentor of the Communist Party of Vietnam and a national liberation hero.

The tribute reaffirmed respect for Ho Chi Minh’s role in founding and nurturing the Party as the vanguard of the working class, working people and the Vietnamese nation.

Party leaders underscored that nearly 96 years of Vietnam’s revolutionary history have demonstrated the decisive role of the Party’s leadership in securing national victories. Under the CPV’s leadership, the armed forces and people continue to uphold revolutionary traditions and national unity to overcome challenges and pursue national development goals.

The delegation later laid a wreath inscribed “Eternal gratitude to the heroic martyrs” at the Monument to the Heroes and Martyrs, bowing in remembrance of those who sacrificed their lives for national independence, freedom and reunification.

The 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam runs from January 19 to 25 in Hanoi, bringing together 1,586 delegates representing more than 5.6 million Party members nationwide.

Former Politburo and Central Committee members, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and representatives of intellectuals, artists, religious dignitaries and outstanding youth are also attending.
