The proposals were discussed during an October 20 visit to Japan by a provincial delegation led by Nguyen Tuan Thanh, standing Vice Chairman of the Gia Lai People’s Committee. Further information exchanges and field surveys are planned to assess potential projects.
In talks with Haseko, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh invited the group to explore integrated housing and urban development projects, including social housing and accommodation for residents, experts and workers.
Gia Lai covers more than 21,500 square kilometres and has a population of over 3.5 million.
The province is finalizing its master plan and preparing urban and housing development programmes for 2026–2030, with a focus on modern, smart urban areas supported by coordinated infrastructure, green spaces and public amenities.
The province also proposed cooperation on technology for building design, construction, management and maintenance, alongside partnerships with Vietnamese businesses and training for local workers.
Haseko operates in construction, real estate and housing services. Its strengths include integrated design and construction, building information modelling (BIM), property management and building renovation.
In Vietnam, the group has operated a serviced apartment project in Hanoi since 2017 and invested in Ecoba Vietnam Joint Stock Company in 2020.
Gia Lai pledged to provide planning information, project lists and details of available land, infrastructure and legal requirements. It will also appoint contacts to help the group assess investment opportunities.
Provincial officials invited Haseko’s leadership to conduct field surveys to identify suitable projects. Group representatives welcomed further exchanges and visits to explore specific opportunities.
At a separate meeting with Kubota, discussions centred on agricultural mechanization, smart farming and links across agricultural supply chains.
Thanh said Gia Lai has more than 1 million hectares of agricultural land, including production areas for coffee, rubber, pepper, sugarcane, cassava, rice and fruit.
The province’s exports reached approximately $2.94 billion in the first nine months of 2026. Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh highlighted its potential to develop concentrated raw material production areas, expand processing, raise agricultural value and reach more export markets.
Drawing on Kubota’s expertise in agricultural machinery, automation, smart farming and water technology, Gia Lai proposed four areas of cooperation: high-tech farming projects linked to raw material production areas; smart farming demonstration models using water efficiently; equipment maintenance and repair centres combined with workforce training; and agricultural value chains covering production, storage, processing, sales and exports.
The province also sought discussions on water supply, wastewater treatment and water reuse for agricultural production, industrial zones and residential areas.
Kubota representatives highlighted Gia Lai’s extensive land resources, varied production conditions and established agricultural production areas.
They expressed interest in smart farming demonstration models, technical services and stronger links across agricultural value chains.
The two sides will continue discussions on machinery needs, infrastructure and potential partnerships with local businesses and cooperatives. These exchanges will help identify priorities for field surveys and assess suitable forms of cooperation.
