TEMC Cinema Co., Ltd., together with the production team, officially launched the historical action film project “Tây Sơn thất hổ tướng: Kỳ Nam Archer Lý Văn Bưu” during a ceremony held on May 20 at the Rosa Alba Ham Ho Film Studio in Bình Phú Commune, Gia Lai Province.

The film began shooting its first scenes the same day and is expected to premiere nationwide in the near future.

Positioned as a new take on Vietnam’s historical cinema, the project revisits the Tây Sơn era through the story of General Lý Văn Bưu, one of the seven most distinguished generals of the Tây Sơn dynasty.

Unlike many previous productions centered primarily on the image of Quang Trung - Nguyễn Huệ, the film explores the life, character and military talent of Lý Văn Bưu from a broader and more layered perspective.

Known for his exceptional archery skills and honored with the title “Kỳ Nam Archer”, Lý Văn Bưu fought alongside the Tây Sơn movement from its early days through major battles against foreign invaders, leaving a lasting mark on Vietnamese history.

According to the producers, the project aims to open a new direction for Vietnamese historical films by combining a multi-layered screenplay with carefully choreographed action and martial arts sequences, while also inspiring younger generations to engage with the country’s history and national identity.
