Vice Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Hữu Quế welcomed the delegation led by Thạ Nu Xay-Băn Sa Lít, Deputy Secretary of the Attapeu Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Attapeu Provincial Administration, who arrived to extend Lunar New Year 2026 greetings.
Speaking on behalf of Attapeu’s leadership, Chairman Thạ Nu Xay-Băn Sa Lít conveyed New Year wishes to Gia Lai’s authorities and residents, expressing hopes for continued socio-economic progress in the coming year. He underlined Attapeu’s commitment to strengthening traditional friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two provinces.
The Attapeu leader proposed that both sides conduct a full review of their 2021–2025 cooperation results as a basis for formulating a more practical and effective cooperation programme for 2026–2030. Priority sectors include education, healthcare, agriculture, trade, tourism and youth-focused people-to-people exchanges.
Quế briefed the delegation on Gia Lai’s development following the recent administrative merger. The province’s GRDP grew 7.2% in 2025, ranking 28th among 34 localities. Per capita GRDP reached 85.05 million VND (about USD 3,400), a 12.4% increase year-on-year. Export turnover rose to USD 3.45 billion, exceeding plan targets by 19.7%, while budget revenue totalled 28 trillion VND (about USD 1.12 billion).
He noted that despite severe impacts from Typhoon No. 13 and year-end floods, Gia Lai prioritised post-disaster recovery, livelihood stabilisation and the gradual restoration of production and business activity.
Both sides agreed to boost exchanges on state management, border-gate economic development, human-resource training and business connectivity. They also committed to strengthening border security coordination, maintaining social order and ensuring a favourable environment for trade and development.
To mark the Tet occasion, Attapeu presented one ton of sticky rice to the people of Gia Lai, symbolising the close bond between the neighbouring provinces.
