By the end of 2025, mobile and mobile broadband services had reached 100 percent of commune and ward centers, as well as most villages and hamlets.
Fiber-optic networks now cover the majority of residential areas, enabling broad access to digital services for residents and businesses. The province operates 8,828 BTS stations, including 734 5G stations installed at commune and ward centers, according to Huỳnh Hồ Hoài Nam, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology.
Gia Lai targets at least 60 percent 5G coverage across industrial zones and clusters in 2026 to support high-speed connectivity for digital government, digital economy, and digital society initiatives. The province also expects newly commissioned international submarine cable systems to improve service quality and network stability, creating conditions to attract investment and expand technology-driven economic sectors.
Nam emphasized that digital infrastructure serves as the backbone of digital transformation, saying seamless connectivity and effective data use enable science, technology and innovation to generate added economic value.
Alongside technical upgrades, Gia Lai is accelerating digital government development. By late 2025, all state agencies will be connected to the dedicated data transmission network, while provincial-to-commune video conferencing systems will operate uniformly. The province plans to provide 2,210 online public services, including 1,110 fully online procedures, aimed at improving administrative efficiency and service quality for citizens and enterprises.
Digital infrastructure has also become embedded in socio-economic activities, particularly in commerce and agriculture. By the end of 2025, 981 OCOP products had been listed on major e-commerce platforms, and “Digital market - Digital countryside” models and cashless payment solutions had been widely implemented.
Local businesses are increasingly leveraging digital platforms for market expansion. Huy Vũ Dried Beef Co., Ltd. in Kon Gang commune shifted from a household business to online commerce in 2023, adopting livestreaming as a primary sales channel. Deputy Director Trần Thị Diễm Kiều said improved network stability in recent years has supported high-quality livestream sessions, boosting engagement and revenue.
The company’s dried beef products have secured a 4-star OCOP rating after investing in online stores and traceability systems. Annual revenue now averages about 2 billion VND (approximately USD 80,000), providing employment for around 15 workers and linking nearly 20 livestock households to secure raw material supply.
Digital transformation is also reshaping production practices. Producers are placing greater emphasis on packaging, labeling, traceability, and quality standards, while online feedback has become a key mechanism for adjusting production and improving product quality. According to Trương Quang Phong, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, digital transformation involves not only technology adoption but also fundamental changes in production methods to strengthen value and market credibility.
At the review and task-setting conference for the Science and Technology sector, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Lâm Hải Giang said Gia Lai is building the foundations of a digital economy after focusing on connectivity coverage. In 2026, the province will prioritize strategic digital infrastructure, digital skills training, and support for businesses and citizens to harness digital platforms for socio-economic development.
