Gia Lai Province on January 18 broke ground on the Phu Dong High-Rise Residential and Commercial Complex in Pleiku City, a project developed by Hoang Anh Gia Lai Joint Stock Company that officials say will shape a new urban landmark and support the city’s long-term growth.

Provincial Vice Chairman Nguyễn Hữu Quế and representatives of local departments and authorities attended the ceremony, which also marked a practical initiative to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

According to the approved plan, the complex will be built on nearly 7,000 square metres with a registered investment exceeding VND 591 billion (approximately USD 24 million). The development includes an 80-metre tower with 22 floors above ground and two basement levels, delivering more than 77,000 square metres of construction floor area.

The project allocates three podium floors for commercial and service functions, while residential units extend from the third to the twenty-second floor. When completed, it is expected to supply 610 apartments and accommodate about 1,800 residents.

Located on Nguyễn Tất Thành Avenue with three street frontages, the site sits beside the Mường Thanh Hotel and near the Phù Đổng roundabout, offering direct access to key urban infrastructure.

A representative of the investor said the project demonstrates Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group’s long-term commitment to the province, aiming to provide a modern living space that meets both residential and commercial needs. The company said the development will target young households with affordable but high-quality housing options.

Vice Chairman Quế praised the group’s capacity, reputation, and contributions to Gia Lai’s socio-economic development. He reiterated the province’s commitment to maintaining a transparent, business-friendly investment environment and urged the developer to mobilise resources, coordinate with relevant agencies, and ensure timely, safe and high-quality construction that complements Pleiku’s urban landscape.
