The course, inaugurated at the Pờ Yầu Village Cultural House in Lơ Pang commune, is organised by the Gia Lai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism under the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for 2025.
Over 10 days, 40 residents of Pờ Yầu village will receive direct instruction from a lead lecturer from the Faculty of Tourism and Professional Skills at Gia Lai College. The training focuses on communication and hospitality skills for welcoming visitors, alongside methods for presenting and introducing Bahnar traditional culture.
The curriculum also includes guidance on preparing traditional dishes and beverages, as well as skills for leading cultural, historical and nature-based tours. Participants will take part in field trips designed to help them develop locally based tourism programmes.
The initiative follows a similar training course previously organised by the department for 40 Jrai residents in Chuét village, An Phú ward. That programme aimed to support local communities in preserving and safeguarding traditional cultural heritage while linking it to the development of community-based tourism.
