The Quy Nhon Youth Club has begun providing home-based tutoring and financial support to disadvantaged children in Quy Nhon Ward, offering targeted assistance to families facing severe hardship.

Established in late November 2025 under the Vietnam Youth Federation of Quy Nhon Ward, the club has more than 60 members and focuses on activities including tutoring, networking and sponsorship for vulnerable children. After consulting with local authorities, schools, teachers and families, it launched its home tutoring programme in mid-December.

The first beneficiaries were siblings Nguyễn Anh Vũ, 8, and Nguyễn Ánh Linh, 7, pupils at Le Hong Phong Primary School. Their parents are hearing impaired and unable to support their studies at home.

Several club members now spend six evenings a week at the children’s home, helping them revise lessons and prepare for school. Trần Quang Vân, born in 2006 and a student in the 47th cohort of the History–Geography Education programme at Quy Nhon University, has been involved since the outset.

“The biggest challenge is not the lessons, but patience and understanding,” Vân said. “I speak slowly, explain again what they don’t understand and encourage them so they don’t feel self-conscious. Even small improvements motivate us to continue, so they can keep up with their classmates and avoid dropping out”.

For the children, the presence of volunteer tutors has boosted confidence and motivation. Linh said she used to fear studying because she could not follow lessons and had no one at home to help. “Since the older brothers and sisters started teaching me, I understand better and feel more confident,” she said.

Beyond tutoring, the club mobilises donations of books and school supplies. In cooperation with the “Hành trình trẻ” Club, the Youth Union of Quy Nhon Kindergarten and the Youth Union of the Quy Nhon Port Border Guard Station, it provides monthly assistance to 10 disadvantaged students in the ward. Each receives 500,000 VND (about USD 20) per month, along with school materials and gifts when they fall ill.

“Our support is based on careful assessment of each child’s circumstances,” said Đỗ Tiến Nghi, head of the Quy Nhon Youth Club. “We coordinate with families, schools and relevant organisations to ensure the right help reaches the right people, with long-term follow-up to stabilise their lives and education”.

As the Lunar New Year approaches, the club is preparing Tet gift-giving activities, as well as the “Spring Market” and “Meaningful Tet” programmes, to assist people with meritorious service and those in especially difficult circumstances in the ward.

Nguyễn Quốc Anh, chairman of the Vietnam Youth Federation of Quy Nhon Ward, said the club had become an effective model for mobilising young people in community welfare efforts, particularly in supporting children and families in need.
